Shagaya Empowers 2000 Constituents with Home Solar System

Mallam Muktar Tolani Shagaya, has commenced the distribution of the first batch of the Home Solar System Empowerments Project which captured over 200 constituents at his campaign office in Ilorin.

In a statement made available to Newsmen by the Director of Media and Publicity of Muktar Shagaya Campaign Organization, Basheer Luqman, today, inadequate infrastructure in rural areas and constant power outages in grid- connected areas have prevented our constituents from living and enterprising in optimal conditions.

The statement further added that to address the plight of constituents who lack access to frequent electricity supply which is crucial for socioeconomic empowerment, Shagaya sets to distribute 2000 units of Home Solar System which first batch has over 200 beneficiaries, noting that solar energy has the potential to power the electrical and electronics system in rural areas by providing adequate electricity.

In his remarks, the Deputy Director General of Muktar Shagaya Campaign Organization, Dr Abdullahi Ibrahim said, “Shagaya had several meetings with his constituents both in urban and countryside, the meeting afforded the team the opportunity to better understand the challenges posed by the non-availability of the stable electric supply in the constituency and the resultant impact it has on people. Access to solar electricity will enable the beneficiaries to meet their electricity needs such as lighting, powering appliances, ventilation, etc.”

During an interview with the recipients, they expressed their heartfelt appreciation that they were selected to benefit from the “Home Solar for Constituents” project. According to them, the project will be a great relief for them as their problem of electric power supply will be permanently fixed. They also pledged their commitment to ensure that the installed solar PV systems will be adequately safe guarded.
