In a bid to promote employment opportunities, ensure food security, and enhance the economic well-being of the people in Kwara state, the federal representative of Ilorin West/Asa Constituency, Muktar Tolani Shagaya has facilitated a capacity-building initiative that trained women and youths in fish farming and soap making.
The three-day fish farming training and two-day soap making session, organised by the Federal College of Agricultural Produce Technology, Kano is aimed to equip the participants with essential skills, boosting their productivity and self-reliance.
Speaking to journalists, Mr. Basheer Luqman, Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to Shagaya, emphasized the lawmaker’s commitment to empowering his constituents and improving their living standards.
According to him, the trainees are now equipped with knowledge that will enable them to contribute positively to their communities and the state.
He said to further support the newly trained individuals, the Lawmaker provided fish, feeds and cash for the fish farming trainees and items as well as cash grants for the soap makers.
Responding to the guesture, the beneficiaries expressed their gratitude for the opportunity and pledged to apply their new skills for the betterment of their communities.
This initiative is said to be one of several projects undertaken by Muktar Shagaya to empower his constituents and promote economic development in the Ilorin West/Asa Constituency.
